Earthworm Jim

Probably better known for the TV series (which was also great!) but Earthworm Jim on the Sega is one of my earlier gaming memories so I decided to pick him for this months post!

Lara Croft

For many years my favorite game was Tomb Raider II, so here is my tribute to Miss Lara Croft!  :)
I can still remember the cheat code xD "Sidestep left, sidestep right, sidestep left, step backward, step forward, spin two times, backwards jump turn"

(Least) favorite Street fighter

Really wanted to post something tonight so I ignored the brief (unconsciously). Now I'm really mad I didn't do something else. Say a character I do like.

GAME ON!

Name the 4 Ghosts that appear in Pac-Man?

Wow...Billy got in there quick off the mark. Great having you in during the week Billy.

With the release of "Wreck it Ralph" this month I thought we would keep the blog topical. So here we go
Theme 11:
What is your Ultimate Game/Game Character?
This should be alot of fun!!!

And the Winner Is.....

And the Crown goes to....Robert Robinson (Scotsman Bob) for taking home the Crown for his excellent piece on Noah. You can check out some more of Bobs work here . A big shout out goes to Bryan O' Sullivan and Jamie Teehan (aka Teehanwolfs) who came in as the runners up so well done lads.

Cheers everyone for rooting through cuboards and attic rooms to find your old art and stories. I think everyone enjoyed having a look at our old masterpieces!!!

Most of you know what the new theme is but for all the rest....stayed tuned.

Times past

My first drawing on cel. There was another frame where his arm was positioned up as to make it seem like he was waving when you flipped the pages. Did it in a course with Tina. Don't know her second name, she usually goes by Tina Mation. Wether she legally changed her name to Mation or not I have no idea.
Used to love reading Sonic the comic especially Richard Elsons stuff. Fantastic artist. I would probably date the two of these around 93-95.

Post Apocalyptic Childhood Doodles!

These are some characters that I drew when I was either ten or eleven. I definitely had a much better imagination back then!

I also re-imagined the two characters from the third page. Which was a lot of fun. The Black cops gun is a rip off of Judge Dredds gun as I no longer have the imagination to design something new :)

this is eyeball paul, he's pretty bad ass...

this is the evolution of man, its pretty bad ass....

think i was bout 13 wen I did these... which makes them much worse!!

Bryanosaur

Sometimes instead of doing my homework, I'd just draw dinosaurs instead. Here are some scans from my senior infants copy book.

These are all from circa 1993. I'm quite proud of the fourth drawing.

Twenty years later as a retrospective I decided to do more dinosaur drawings.
Keeping in the spirit, I drew them like my five year old self.

NOah

This is how we spell in Scotland. It's also what we believe about the fate of the yooNucoNS. Mock my art and you mock my culture.

You know when you see someone and can't stop imagining what they look like naked? And mutated into some kind of hideous ginger troll? That might be a Scottish thing too. Anyway, this is what (eventually) happened when I tried to re-draw a picture of Noah from when I was six.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

I couldn't decide which picture was more embarrassing/creepy so I decided to go with a few!

First up are my favourites of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers from when I was about 4/5. Note the lack of ladies, I was a terror of a tomboy as a young wan. I still remember the White Ranger's sword my brother got for Christmas one year. I used to steal it off him and smack him around. Bless.

All pictures from this era right up until about 8 were drawn at an obvious angle because I used to draw with my head resting on the paper, and the eyepatch impaired my depth perception...

Next up are some very creepy renditions of the Spice Girls, which I think is from when I was about 9, judging that I chose to leave out the traitor, Ginger Spice, who had left at that point. I've since forgiven her.

Lastly is the influence of deviantart kicking in, a Final Fantasy fanart from when I was about 14/15. I tried very hard with this one, from what I remember, which makes the embarrassment all the worse!!

Festival Time.

Mam had this stashed away in the back of the wardrobe. Can't believe she still had this, I was only 4. Check awesome line work going on there....Hahaha!

Looks like Fimo was a popular choice back in the 80's. They were my dogs Meka and Angel...little rascals. I was about 10 then I think when I made these. They have been through the mill as you can see, Meka's ponytail has broken off and they are more yellow then white.

Tonight I Dine On Turtle Soup!

I did this picture when I was 28, it's probably the best drawing I've ever done.....

Ah no, I think I was about 8 or 9, give or take. Then my sister went and RUINED IT by putting her own drawings on the page. Somebody (possibly me) also went and corrected it but apparently it's right so that's good.

And an update which was fun to do. Notice in this update he's not giving the finger like the original, I'm aiming for PG-13 this time around.
